The creatures were pale, thin, and slender, and they appeared to be frozen in time before disappearing as quickly as they had appeared. That is, until they returned in July of 2016, this time with six more friends. So where did the statuesque creatures come from and what were they doing in the middle of nowhere in the murky lagoons of France Well, as real as the creatures appeared, they were crafted by French sculptor and artist Sophia Prestigiacomo to commentate on humankind's difficult relationship with nature. Each of the figures is made of iron with mud and algae plastered on the surface. When the mud and algae dry, they take on a skin-like appearance. As the figures decompose, this skin changes color and texture, allowing the figures to eventually blend in with the natural landscape, even if the design of Sophie's figure has an unsettling cryptid-like appearance. The swamp sculptures do have a certain beauty to them, especially if you consider the meaning behind them. Abandoned Nuclear Bomb The Goldsboro B-52 Incident | A Short Documentary | Fascinating Horror A 24 megaton nuclear bomb dumped by a cold war era pilot is one of the scariest things to ever be found in a swamp and here's the kicker, the bomb is yet to be retrieved. A B-52 bomber lost its wing in a storm in 1961, forcing the pilot to eject its bombs. The first of the two nuclear weapons was recovered, but the other was lost in the Nahunta Swamp, where recovery teams decided to abandon it. The incident is known as the Goldsboro incident, and it was only recently revealed how close the bombs were to going off. There are six switches that need to be turned on, and five of them were turned on during the fall. The bomb could still be active if it is ever removed from the swamp. This is why authorities think it’s better to let it stay in the swamp.
